Comments: 1992. First Edition Trade Paperback. Good. 214pp. Mary Joe Frug (1941 ? 1991) was a professor at New England School of Law from 1981 to 1991. She is considered a forerunner of legal postmodern feminist theory, and was a renowned postmodernist and feminist legal scholar. Much of her work was collected in the posthumously-published book Postmodern Legal Feminism. On April 4, 1991 she was murdered on the streets of Cambridge, Massachusetts not far from the home that she shared with her husband, Harvard Law professor Gerald Frug, and their children Stephen and Emily. She suggested that one principle of postmodernism is that human experience is located inescapably within language. Power is exercised not only through direct coercion, but also through the way in which language shapes and restricts our reality. However, because language is always open to re-interpretation, it can also be used to resist this shaping and restriction, and so is a potentially fruitful site of political struggle. Nice tight binding. Some moderate wear to cover, corners, and edges. Crease to bottom front cover as well as last few pages.to No highlighting and/or writing.
